Cheney gave a powerful and well-argued speech today justifying the Bush Administration's anti-terror policies. I don't think I agree with everything he says, and I'm sure there's some things they could have done differently, but it's hard to argue with results. As Cheney points out, if Bush had promised on 9/12/01 that there would be no further attacks by al-Qaeda on American soil, we'd all have thought he was totally delusional. But they somehow pulled it off, and regardless of my other serious grievances with the Bush presidency, they deserve our thanks for that (and I think historians will give Bush and Cheney their due).
